Our 100% estate-grown Verjus is pure unfermented grape juice pressed from our own grapes, picked before ripeness, to make a versatile and vibrant sweet/tart condiment. Alas, disaster struck in 2023 and we weren’t able to bottle in 2023.
Verjus has been used since the Middle Ages as an alternative to lemon or lime and is enjoying renewed popularity as a versatile, vibrant condiment. Marinate seafood and meats, prepare a salad dressing or a delicious sauce, deglaze a pan, create a sorbet, a cocktail, or a multitude of culinary delights. Best used within six weeks of opening.

The label does NOT depict chicken nuggets and fries. The artist Giordana Venturi (about 3 years old at the time) titled it “Naked Prehistoric Girl by Fire”. Both she and the verjus were immature and innocent. Giordana now has a 4 year old daughter of her own.

….. a new offering from estate-grown haskap berries (honeyberries)
A delicious new jam this year combining our own haskap with orange. A little of our balsamic vinegar enhances the unique natural flavour of our berries. Very dark blue in colour, they are a little like blueberry, raspberry, elderberry and black currant combined into one sweet-tart mouthful. A number of nutritional benefits include high vitamin C and A, high fiber and potassium plus high levels of antioxidants.
125 ml, refrigerate after opening and use within 6 weeks.
I have long admired our local artisans. You may have noticed some pieces from one of my favourites, Mary Fox, in our tasting room. Her recently released book, My Life as a Potter, is strikingly designed with breathtaking photography illustrating her techniques and pottery. For me, the real heart of the book is found in her stories. Read them sequentially. They offer a beautifully written emotion-filled history of her fascinating life. It is a wonderful read!
